The Alpenrose was born in the early 1950s as a bar and restaurant to satisfy the large clientele that revolves around the first chairlift in Gressoney Saint Jean, the Weissmatten.
When Franco Bieler leaves his sporting career and the legendary Valanga Azzurra, he buys it and expands and transforms it. On 24 December 1984 the Alpenrose Hotel opens its doors. Customers arrive immediately thanks to its strategic location right in front of the Weissmatten slopes. It is a family run hotel that satisfies the palate of the guests above all, keeping faith with the origins of the structure. And with a family-oriented perspective, in 2011, Franco and his wife Silvia opted for a significant expansion. Thus the new suites of about 40 square meters are created with a double bedroom, a separate corner with two beds and a living room. A playroom is also created, dedicated both to adults and children, next to the living room. Since then the interest of small groups of friends or families has been confirmed. In winter several ski teams, national and minors, have chosen it as a venue to host them during their training on the Weissmatten Stadium; while in summer mountain lovers, walkers, bikers, sports groups or simple couples and families confirm the pleasure of staying there.
